Tunng inhabit a place in UK music which is entirely their own, and full of contradictions. Their sound is instantly recognisable, but never seems to stand still. Techno Touaregs.

I've spent enough time with the Touareg to form a picture of their blossoming relationship with modern digital technology. On this past tour, the one that ended at the Electric Picnic in Ireland on August 29th, two members of Tinariwen…Said and Abdallah…had laptop computers with them for the first time. Eyadou also has a computer, but it's a bit clunky and ancient, and he prefers to leave it in Paris while he's on the road.
